Have You Checked Your Breasts Today?
Tomorrow I’m having a biopsy on my left breast and I’m absolutely petrified. Not so much from the procedure itself (although I cringe when I think about that loooong needle they are going to insert) but from what the results may reveal. You see I have a dense lump on my left breast that has remained the same size and shape for the last 2 years but during my recent follow-up mammogram (which I have been diligently getting every 6 months), the results indicated that the lump grew in size. Darn! Having any sort of medical condition seems a lot more stressful nowadays with the wealth of information available at…

I Feel Young But My Vision Doesn't
***SWEEPSTAKES*** One lucky Rocking Over 40 will win an OttLite Lamp. See details at the end of this post. Most of the time I feel younger than my real age until of course, I reach for an over-the-counter medication and cannot, for the life of me, read the dosage information because it’s so darn small. Sigh! It’s ironic that the older we get, the clearer we see things in life, yet our eyesight becomes less than clear. Isn’t that right ladies? It’s Time to Change the Conversation Because We Are Badass Women
I noticed lately that when I get together with girlfriends we spend a good amount of time whining, complaining, bitching and moaning about the perils of aging. The wrinkles have sneaked up, the weight keeps coming on even though our diets and exercise routines haven’t changed, the eyesight just keeps getting worse, the knees hurt when we climb stairs, our menstrual cycles are all wacky, the gray hairs are taking over, we hit peak tiredness by 8 p.m., and on and on. You get the gist. It’s like suddenly we realize we’re middle-aged and our conversations change. We commiserate with others who understand us, and naturally, we support our collective…

5 Ways I've Learned to Bring Out My Inner Goddess
We all have an inner goddess at our disposal. Do you know what yours is like? Mine is fierce. She is abundance. She is creativity. She is confidence. She is strong. She is intuitive. She is sexy. She is kind. She is brave. She is radiance. I’m happy to say that I came into my inner goddess in my rocking 40s and while she has always been with me, it is during this particular life stage that she blossomed. However, there are days that I get disconnected from her because life and problems get in the way. You know how that goes. As women, we deal with a lot and…

Never. Stop. Learning
You know how people always say kids’ minds are like sponges? That there is no limit to how much they can learn and absorb? I’ve always been fascinated and frankly somewhat jealous of this capability in kids. I have seen it unfold with my own children. How they were able to learn two languages simultaneously or learn piano and quickly progress through it. That’s some true talent! Now all this is fine and dandy, but what is bothersome is the notion or belief that as you get older, it becomes more difficult to learn something new. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, or maybe even said it to yourself: “I’m…
