5 Reasons Your 40's Rock

For some reason there’s something taboo about turning 40 or admitting that you’re in your 40s, especially for women. I remember a friend of mine on the day of her 40th birthday excitedly telling everyone that she was no longer thirty-nine, but thirty-ten. She was joking and we all laughed, but many a truths are spoken in jest. I also remember a friend telling me that once you turn 40 it’s all downhill from there. It’s when your body and mind start acting up. You begin to notice things in your appearance that weren’t there before, you start suffering from a variety of weird ailments, and you begin to feel all achy and breaky both physically and mentally. In other words, turning 40 was the worst thing that could happen.
D o w n e r!
Well, in today’s day and age, those are outdated and antiquated concepts. There has never been a better time to be in your 40s and proudly admit it. We lead healthier lives, we are the happiest we’ve ever been, we’re confident, and still having fun.
We have come far ladies! And we should keep calm and bask in our glory instead of hiding behind some outdated misconception that it’s bad to age.
Here are 5 reasons your 40s rock:

  1. You are the perfect combination of beauty and hard-won experience

Am I right, or am I right? Our beauty goes beyond skin deep, although we still look darn good. Our beauty radiates from being comfortable and confident in who we are. All of our life experiences have brought us to this point, as my good friend would say, we are in “our prime.”

  1. You have the will to pursue your passions and the smarts to do it wisely

You clearly know your limitations and are smart enough not to jump into anything that will make you feel miserable.

  1. You are the CEO of your life

You are in control. You’re at your peak in terms of self-worth, self-confidence, self-love, self-respect, self-efficiency, self-control, self-reliance, and more. We are all self’ed up, but in a good, radiating, contagious kind of way.

  1. You have survived a lot and are more resilient than ever

Don’t sweat the small stuff is literally our mantra. Especially if you have kids around.

  1. You can have your cake and eat it too!

You worked hard to make your cake, to bake it, and patiently waited for it.  You are entitled to it now. So go grab life by the horns and make it what your heart desires.
